In 2014, Tristar Products began marketing and selling a model of electric pressure cooker under the name “Power Cooker XL”. These cookers were advertised on television “infomercials” and were also available for purchase at Wal-Mart. These pressure cookers have been known to spontaneously explode when their lids have blown off under high pressure. As a result of such explosions, persons nearby have suffered severe burns as well as injuries due to impact with flying debris.
Numerous complaints regarding this model of electric pressure cooker have been filed by consumers with the federal Consumer Products Safety Commission (“CPSC”). The CPSC is currently investigating the Power Cooker XL to determine the nature of the defect and whether the product should be recalled. Many consumers who have been injured by this pressure cooker have filed lawsuits around the country. If you or someone you know has been injured as a result of using the Power Cooker XL, please contact our firm immediately. You may be entitled to substantial compensation and the time to bring your claim may expire soon.
